Kenya College of Accountancy (KCA) took gold in FEAUS games hockey with goal difference at play.

KCA emerged victors in the hockey category after winning two games and losing one. A five-goal difference enabled them to narrowly win the top spot against Kenyatta University and Makerere who finished in second place.

Dan Wanjala of KCA attributed the victory to discipline and teamwork which enabled them to get the ultimate prize they always dreamt of.

“We played as a team and even when we lost the game, we appealed to ourselves to remain positive and not concede many goals,” Wanjala noted

Wanjala scored a brace as his side thumped Kenya Methodist University 6-0 plus the only goal that was scored in the final game where they beat Makerere University 1-0.

Makerere university had the chance of taking home gold but in the last game against KCA university, they conceded a goal in a very clumsy manner that they failed to equalize hence losing out on gold.

Makerere university team coach Dulf Musoke expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s performance after failing to contain the game to the last whistle.

“We had the game in our favour but the players lost consecration along the way and we conceded the only goal there was in the game,” Musoke said.

Players such as Frank Nsubuga and Joshua Masawi were on top of their game in the last match but being a team sport, the other teammates were dragging them back which made Masawi get so exhausted after running all over the pitch like a headless chicken to cover the spaces.
