Saidi Kirarira and Peace Hellen strengthened their leads in the MTN Monthly Tees Order of Merit tables after another strong outing in the month of August competition at Entebbe Club on Saturday.
Kirarira and Hellen carded 69 and 67 nett respectively to remain on course of winning the overall prize in December having remained top of the leaderboard in both categories respectively.
Despite being beaten to the Group A accolade by Andrew Baguma who returned 68 on Saturday, Kirarira’s 69 ensured he remained top with a total of 556nett over the eight months, ahead of Arthur Arinaitwe (562nett) and Ssubi Kiwanuka (583nett), in second and third place.
Andrew Kibaya (593), Raymond Ekwamu (598), Mathias Kalule (602), Isaac Mariera (602), Peter Magona (602), Michael Monne (608) and Jacob Byamukama (609) complete the top ten in the event where consistency is key. Only the top 17 male golfers out of 154 that started the competition have played all the eight monthly competitions which attract an average of about 130 golfers every month.
But it was David Mpaga’s 65nett that took the day in Saturday’s event that attracted 151 players.
About ten golfers have been more consistent in the lady’s competition but it is Hellen who maintains top spot with 562nett ahead of Edith Wamalwa (572), Rukia Nalwoga (592) and Charity Tushabomwe (604) and Phionah Namanya (642) who occupy the top five positions in the order of merit, closely followed by Irene Ssekabembe (756) in sixth.
