Vinitkumar Chhaganbhai took 3/22 and scored 14 runs as GM Sugar sent the Tornado Bees to their first loss of the CU Men’s 50 Overs Cricket League, winning by four wickets, on Sunday at Lugogo.
Chhaganbhai led GM’s assault, which bowled out Tornado Bees for 92 in 25.5 overs, and set the stage for a relatively straightforward chase, which concluded in 20.1 overs.
Tornado Bees Munir Ismail led all scorers with 31 runs, but he was not adequately supported by teammates, with seven of them finishing with single digits, including Roger Mukasa, who was bowled out for two off three deliveries.
Mukasa hammered an unbeaten century in Tornado Bees’ last game, a six-wicket victory over Mukono Warriors, and it was interesting to see how he would perform in his first outing since that performance.
He made no impression on Sugar, like the rest of the team. Jonathan Ssebanja scored 14 for Tornado Bees, while Ali Nausad and Cyrus Kibuukamusoke contributed 10 runs each.
Sugar’s chase wasn’t exceptional, but it was sure. Kevinkumar Patel led his teammates with 16 runs, while Chhaganbhai and Bhavikumar Kantilal had 14 runs apiece. Siraje Nsubuga added 13 runs.
