In a bid to grow the game of Futsal in the country, clubs will be required to have a minimum of 10 players aged 18 to 23 years.
This is one of the requirements needed for any club to be licensed for the 2021-2022 Futsal Super League (FSL) that will have a maximum of eight clubs.
According to Futsal Association Uganda (FAU) chairman, Hamzah Jjunju, this will help to attract more youngsters to the sport.
“We want to see that we have more youth join the sport. This can help them improve on their careers or even distance them from doing uncalled-for things. So far many people have started to embrace the sport and I believe more will join. This doesn’t mean that those above 23 years are not welcome since we also need them for the growth of the sport, “noted Jjunju.
Other requirements needed to be licensed are medical files for each player, coach, and officials showing full vaccination against COVID-19 and Hepatitis B, the head coach and his assistant must have a FUFA FUTSAL Beginners Coaching Certificate plus any FUFA Coaching Certificate and above.
All clubs intending to participate in the FSL 2021-22 season must submit requirements before being inspected.
Clubs that attain a score of 80% and above will be eligible for inspection to be granted a license to participate in the new season.
Park FC, Big Talent FC, Mengo FC, Synergy FC, Aidenal SOSA FC, KJT FC, Kisenyi FC, and Kabowa FC have the priority to apply for a licence in writing.
And the deadline for the above eight clubs to submit requirements is October 8.
If any of the 2020-21 FSL clubs do not apply for a licence to be inspected then the other interested clubs will be considered and will have a deadline of October 11 to submit the required documents.
The 2021-2022 season will commence next month and Park FC are the reigning league champions.
