Kigezi 3 Bunyoro 2
Teso Province head coach Frank Anyau has expressed delight with his side’s performance in the ongoing 2025–2026 edition of the FUFA Drum tournament.
His excitement followed Teso’s 1–1 draw against Tooro Province on Sunday at St. Paul National Seminary in Fort Portal, a Group D encounter that showcased resilience and improvement compared to previous campaigns.
“I want to say, Teso Province is on the right track this time compared to the previous editions where the team was eliminated in the group stages. That is not the case this season,” Anyau said.
Teso’s campaign has been marked by notable results, including a 1–0 home victory over Kampala Province and the away draw with Tooro.
In Sunday’s match, Patrick Ssembusi put Teso ahead in the first half before Isaac Amutuhaire equalized for Tooro after the break. The reverse fixture between the two sides had ended in a goalless stalemate.
With five points collected so far, Teso will conclude their group stage campaign away to Kampala Province in January.
Elsewhere in Group D, Buganda Province edged Ankole Province 1–0 thanks to a late strike from George Kaddu. In Group A, Acholi Province defeated Bugisu 2–0 at Pece Stadium in Gulu on Saturday.
Defending champions Lango Province, who lifted the trophy last season after beating Busoga in the final, remain determined to maintain their dominance as the competition progresses.
The FUFA Drum is Uganda’s premier cultural football tournament, bringing together provinces to celebrate heritage and talent. Matches are staged across different venues, with standings and results updated through FUFA and sports platforms.
