The long-awaited kickoff of the 2024/25 North East Regional League is set for Saturday, October 26, 2024, and football enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the action-packed matches.
According to John Odongo, the North East regional chairperson, the league will run until January 2025 for the first-round break. This season, the competition has welcomed 10 new teams, all vying for promotion to Uganda's second-tier men's football league, the Big League.
Among the new teams are Awaliwal FC, Kigandani FC, Nyero Rock Stars, Ogongora FC, Usuk United, Kajamaka Black Stars, Koena FC, Obule Earthquake, Tapo FC, and Otuboi FC. Odongo believes that these fresh additions will inject new energy into the league, with clubs ready to showcase their talent and compete fiercely for promotion.

Reflecting on last season, Tubur United and MYDA FC were the standout teams in the Kyoga and Bisina groups, respectively. MYDA FC ultimately claimed the 2023/24 North East Regional League title with an impressive 4-0 win over Tubur United in the playoffs at Tegers SS Playground in Kapchorwa District.
As the new season begins, fans can expect thrilling matches, intense competition, and memorable moments as teams battle for success. The league continues to serve as a platform for emerging talent, while also allowing seasoned players to shine as they pursue their footballing dreams.
Tubur United FC will begin their season with an away fixture against Nyero Rock Stars FC in Nyero Town Council, Kumi District.
