Bugerere Stabex EMC rally
Date; July 10-12, 2025
Venue; Kayunga, Jinja, Iganga
Motorsport excitement is set to sweep across the districts of Jinja, Iganga, and Kayunga as the Bugerere Stabex EMC Rally revs into action from July 10–12.
For residents of Kayunga, the event is especially significant, it marks the return of rallying to the district for the first time since 2019.
The Eastern region, often dubbed Uganda’s industrial hub due to its dense concentration of factories and enterprises, is ready to host the event. Known for drawing large crowds of motorsport fans from across the country, the region is expected to deliver an electric atmosphere.
The rally also marks a pivotal moment for the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), as it coincides with the implementation of the Sports Act 2023. The FMU plans to use the event to demonstrate its commitment to complying with the Act’s new regulations and standards.
The official launch of the rally took place on Tuesday at the Mayor’s Garden in Kayunga, with a strong show of financial support. Over sh60 million has been secured from more than five sponsors, covering half of the event’s sh120 million budget. The sponsorship package includes not only cash but also in-kind contributions such as fuel, fire systems, and accommodation for the drivers.
Key sponsors include State Minister for Finance and Planning Amos Lugoloobi, KCB Bank, International University of East Africa (IUEA), Across the Nile Resort, Ssegaamu 14, Women in Motorsport Uganda, and several others.
“I’m partially relieved,” said EMC President Kees Kagolo. “Reaching the halfway point of our budget through sponsor support is a major milestone. We’re grateful to our partners for making this possible.”
The rally itinerary promises a rigorous test of driving skill and endurance. On Day One in Jinja, drivers will tackle four competitive stages: Ssegaamu (18.9km), KCB Bank (25km), Across the Nile Resort (9km), and the IUEA Super Special Stage (3km).
The second and final day will shift to Kayunga district, where drivers will face two stages: Amos Lugoloobi (25km) and Stabex (15km), both of which will be repeated to really push the competitors to their limits.
Kagolo's also making a big appeal to fans to please adhere to the safety restrictions. "We promise a safe event without compromising the thrill," he said, emphasizing the importance of safety.
