In a decisive game of the National Volleyball League Serie C, E-planet Volleyball Club swept Amus Volleyball Club aside to get promoted to Serie B second tier league.

E-planet Volleyball Club defeated Amus College Volleyball Club 3-0 (23-25, 19-25, 23-25) to take the Eastern Uganda Volleyball League Championship title.

In a decisive game of the National Volleyball League Serie C, E-planet Volleyball Club swept Amus Volleyball Club aside to get promoted to Serie B second tier league.

Under the women’s category, Amus was crowned champions and promoted to play in Serie B next season having been the only women’s team that registered for the tournament.

E-planet Volleyball Club beat Amus College in game 3 of the playoff finals which came to the climax on Saturday at Kumi University volleyball court, Nyero.

“This title is all about everybody, the players on the court and outside. The technical team, the management, and everyone. If you look at the way we started the season, reaching the final was not easy for us but we managed to overcome our competitors,” said Stephen Okurut team manager of E-planet VC.

According to Okurut, since they have been promoted to play in Serie B, their target is to sail through to the Serie A. Serie B League is expected to commence in September 2024.

Okurut commended the unity and skills that the players showcased from the start of the league to its climax.

“I’m impressed by how teams displayed the game this time. Now we just need to make sure that mentally we take care of ourselves and we are consistent and deliver both on the offensive and defensive,” said Vincent Ingurat, the chairperson Eastern Uganda Volleyball Association.

Ingurat called upon the tertiary institutions to join the league, which he said will expose talents among students of the various tertiary institutions.

Joseph Odongo, the Uganda Volleyball Federation UVF national treasure while representing the president of the Uganda Volleyball Federation Sadik Zaid Nasiwu encouraged the teams joining Serie B to start preparing early to avoid relegation.

“I do encourage the newly promoted teams to Serie B to ensure that they start mobilizing for the resources ahead of the league, so that we the federation minuses walkovers,” Odong lauded  

This year’s edition registered 7 men’s teams that included Amus College, Elites, Bukedea mission, Kumi North Division, Ngora fighters, Odiding Masters, Kumi University and E-planet
