After five months in charge of URA as head coach, David Obua has been sacked from that role.

An official statement from the club confirmed the development on Friday, April 12.

"After careful consideration and mutual agreement, URA FC and Head Coach David Obua have decided to part ways, terminating his one-year contract, five months into his tenure," part of the statement read.

Obua, a respected former Uganda Cranes forward in his playing days joined the Tax collectors in November last year succeeding Sam Timbe who a few months earlier had sadly passed away.

Obua's appointment was greeted with lots of expectations from the URA faithful who thought he would teach the same kind of football he played.

But 'Obua ball' has failed to meet the expectations of his employers and his sacking has been long coming, especially after the performance of his team in the past six league games.

In those games, he has suffered four defeats, three in a row, and managed a draw and one win.

Obua has in total managed 20 matches, eight wins, four draws and eight defeats.

He leaves URA in ninth place on the Uganda Premier League table with 31 points.

"The club expresses gratitude to coach Obua for his contributions and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours," the statement further read.

Robert Mukasa has been appointed as caretaker coach for the remainder of the season and he will be supported by Ilic Milosh, Allan Owiny, Robert Ssentogo and Swaibu Ssebagala
