2024 is set to be an even busier year for the Uganda Dancesport Federation (UDSF) as they plan to qualify athletes for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“We intend to qualify two athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympics by accumulating the points needed in the remaining two qualifiers,” Barnabas Ssebuyungo, the federation General Secretary said.

Ronald Ndawula and Farouk Luleti are the top seeds in the world ranking and are set to take part in the remaining two qualifiers set for Beijing, China, and South Korea.

The duo is in line for breaking discipline qualification which will be exhibited at the games in August alongside skating.

Among other international tournaments, the federation is set to take part in this year are the preparations for the youth Olympics for 2026 in Dakar, Senegal by putting in place a good youth team in schools to compete at the games.

UDSF is also working with the Uganda Secondary School Sports Association (USSSA) to prepare a team of athletes from schools to take part in the International Schools Federation (ISF) games in Bahrain.

With the World Friendship Games in Moscow, Russia set for October, breaking is part of the disciplines set to take part, and the federation is preparing to front a team for the event.

Locally, UDSF is starting the year with a capacity-building camp for coaches, judges, and athletes, which starts this weekend.

The camp is set to host more than 140 students and teachers at Nyakasura school in Fort Portal. But will throughout the year hold more capacity-building camps in various regions of the country to spread the gospel of the sport?
