The Cricket Cranes are off to south Africa where they hope to defend their African Championship.

"We shall be tasking ourselves to defend the Africa Cup in South Africa. We have plans for the boys to play as many games as possible and we hope to get games against the highly ranked teams before the World Cup but the first step is to defend our title," said coach Jackson Ogwang.

Uganda defeated Tanzania in the final last year to secure the title. This time round the go into the championship as favourites coming off their heroics from the ICC T20I World Cup Qualifiers.

"We shall go out there and play the kind of cricket we have played recently. If you have seen the last 12 T20's we have played, we have been able to win 10 so we need to keep that momentum," explained coach Ogwang.

The mood within the camp is positive and the players are all feeling very confident ahead what could be a blockbuster of a tournament.

Kenya and Tanzania could be seeking revenge so Ogwang and his charges cannot lose concentration.

The team hasn't changed from the group that travelled to Namibia but David Wabwire misses out.
