The battleground for the 2024 Kabalega Rally is set, and competitors should prepare for eight grueling stages.
The event, which is the seventh and final round of the National Rally Championship (NRC), was launched on November 5, in Kampala.
The Clerk of the Course, Charles Ssemengo, noted that the two-day rally will feature eight stages, with two stages on Saturday and the remaining six on Sunday.
“We will have scrutineering of the cars on Friday. On Saturday, the crews will start with two stages in the morning, followed by the Super Special Stage at Kontik Hotel,” Ssemengo said during the launch.
Jas Mangat, with 260 points, and Ronald Sebuguzi, with 257 points, are the two drivers vying for this year’s title, each aiming for their fourth NRC championship.
However, they will face a challenge from Dr. Moustapha Mukasa, who is currently in third position. Additionally, two-time Kabalega Rally winner Hassan Alwi Jr. will be aiming for his third title. Alwi won the rally in 2017 and 2018, and a third victory would be a significant achievement for the International University of East Africa driver.
The event is sponsored by Kabalega Radio, Worldwide Movers, Kontik Hotel, National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board, Mika Resort Hotel, Kabalega Resort Hotel, and Uganda Oils.
