A typical evening in Kiteezi town is made up of kids returning from school and heading to Climate Skaters Park to spend time on the newly constructed ramp at the park.

With plans to equip the skate park with a mini bowl, and street skate area, the place is set to harbour untapped talent in the area and give the children, and youth a new lease of life.
The director of Climate Skaters Kiteezi, Cynthia Kemigisha is thrilled that there is already a huge number of people utilizing the park, three months after construction,
“I am now compelled to have the other parts of the park completed within the slightest time to give more people the time to use the park with a variety of facilities like the mini bowl and the street park,” Kemigisha noted.
The ramp construction kicked off in December and was finished in January, although the area has already started using it.
Kemigisha’s aim in setting up the park was to enable her son and a few of his friends to skate from within her home but realised that the area is now being utilised by other youth in the community.
“I outsourced the small piece of land here and decided to give my son an area where he could skate from with a few of his agemates, but it has now changed into a community centre with both sporting and nonsporting benefits,” Kemigisha continued.
She shifted from Kitintale to Kiteezi and found it wise to have a place dedicated to skating for her son to avoid the back-and-forth movement to Kitintale Skate Park.
During school holidays, the park is fully packed with youth who use it as a way of deviating from nefarious acts.
The members of the skate club are now also taking part in the climate control scheme, implementing recycling projects to reduce pollution.
