Former International Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA) Mr. Universe and Mr. AM World Cup (2015) Ivan Byekwaso bagged two medals as he returned on stage at the 2024 INBA/PNBA Pro/Am World Championships in the Netherlands.
Byekwaso is a five-time Mr. Uganda Bodybuilding Champion currently based in Germany.
He made two top-five finishes in the Men’s Open and Masters category finals to take home two medals. He competed alongside another Ugandan David Kaaya who is also based in Germany and who also managed a medal in the open category.
He had to contend with 18 musclemen in the masters and 14 in the open.

“I didn’t win but I managed to walk away with two medals. The competition was stiff and the lineups were tough. But it is better than nothing and I thank God that I was able to come away with something,” Byekwaso said.
“It was a familiar experience but I had taken a long time without competing so that is what I could manage. It was a ‘group of death’ and a very tight competition.
“So, I will now go back to the drawing board and prepare for the next event but I’m happy that I marketed the country well,” Byekwaso stated.
The championship attracted musclemen who competed in different categories, including in the Men’s Bodybuilding, Classic Physique, Athletic Physique, Women’s Figure, Women’s Physique, Women’s Bodybuilding and Physically Challenged among others, over the three-day show.
