BUL FC have an opportunity to temporarily go top of the Uganda Premier League table should they get maximum points from today's match against UPDF FC at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

The Eastern Giants are in second place, one point behind leaders Kitara FC on 40 who will not be in action until Thursday when they host URA in what is expected to be difficult match at Masindi stadium.

This means that three points at the end of the day will be enough for BUL to reclaim the top spot as well as mounting pressure on Kitara ahead of their big encounter with the Tax collectors.

BUL come into this match on the back of a 1-1 draw with URA at Mehta Stadium in Lugazi last Friday whereas UPDF were 2-0 winners in Bombo against Busoga United.

The reverse fixture played in November saw UPDF beat BUL 2-0 which was a shocking result because at that time they were flying having registered six successive wins before facing the army side.

Bernard Muwanga and Sam Kintu scored the goals in that match.

The two teams need today's three points because of their different ambitions. BUL want to win the league while UPDF is battling relegation where every game they play now is a must-win if they are to keep their slim survival hopes alive.

It is expected to be a tough afternoon for the army side who have not won away from home this season and, on the other hand, BUL are also unbeaten at home this season.
