Buddo Secondary School, champions of the 2025 USSSA U-20 Boys Football, is gearing up for a strong comeback as preparations intensify ahead of the 2026 USSSA competitions calendar, which kicks off with the Elite Games.
Head coach Ronald Agaba confirmed the team’s readiness.
Speaking to Vision Sport, Agaba said the technical team is satisfied with the current progress, noting that players are being empowered through strength and endurance training as the school looks to retain trophies won at elite, district, regional, and national levels.
“Our major target this year is to retain the national football trophy we won in Ngora District, as well as the Elite Games championship held at St. Joseph of Nazareth, Kavule, Mpigi, in February 2025,” Agaba explained.
Agaba also highlighted Buddo’s success in other disciplines during the 2025 Elite Games, where the school collected accolades in netball and basketball (3x3 and 5x5) for both boys and girls.
“So far everything is good on our side. The boys and girls are receiving expertise from professionals, and we are only waiting for the championship to show our full colors,” he added.
Schoolwide Commitment
Buddo SS headteacher Lawrence Muwonge Matovu assured that the school will present teams across all disciplines with the aim of winning more awards.
“We are ready to present players in football, volleyball, basketball (5x5 and 3x3), rugby 7s, handball, and netball. This will help us identify players’ weaknesses in each discipline and prepare them for district, regional, national, and international championships,” Muwonge said.
Buddo showcased its dominance last season, securing gold in both boys’ and girls’ 5x5 basketball, as well as netball. Standout players such as Saidah Shamim Shaban (netball), Kamukama Brandon (boys’ basketball), and Nakibuuka Doreen (girls’ basketball) were recognized as MVPs.
The seventh edition of the Elite Secondary School Championships is scheduled for February 26 to March 1, 2026, at Janan SS, Bombo campus. The tournament will feature the top eight schools per discipline, drawn from the 2025 National Championship.
