Ireland’s Black Rock RFC returns to Uganda for the first time since 1971, with a packed agenda from August 14–25, including a major clash against Uganda All Stars at Kyadondo Rugby Club on August 16.
The tour, initiated in 2013 after Irish volunteers visited Jinja, blends competitive action and community outreach. Black Rock—featuring players fresh from the U20 World Cup qualifiers—will engage in sevens matches and rugby training clinics with schools and clubs across Jinja.
Uganda Rugby Union President Godwin Kayangwe praised Kakira Rugby Club for hosting the renowned Irish side, calling it a model for future international partnerships. Irish Embassy rep Lynn Waller emphasized rugby’s growth in both nations and the importance of cultural exchange.
All Stars captain Michael Wokorach and coach Ivan Mackmot will lead a mix of emerging and seasoned talent eager to showcase their skills.
Match tickets are on sale: UGX 10,000 (general), 50,000 (VIP), and 100,000 (VVIP).
