It was a consolation to the Stanbic Black Pirates as the Black Pearls beat Avengers 7-5 to win the Rujumba 7s at Kings Park Arena on Sunday.
The Stanbic black Pirates had earlier on lost the semi-final to Kobs 12-10 in a bruising game.
So, the win by the Black Pearls was just a consolation to the Pirates who were the male side of the Black Pearls.
Coach Helen Buteme told Vision Sport that girls have started gelling and getting playing patterns right.
Buteme however, cautioned her charges against complacency saying that a three-point lead is not enough to relax.
He explained the players returning are not only experienced and talented players, but that does not mean that they should be complacent.
“In Fort Portal, we have to attack our opponents right from the beginning. There is no underestimating any team,” Buteme added.
Buteme’s confidence is based on the availability of players including the return of five national team players.
Ritah Nadunga, Grace Auma, Suzan Adong, Lydia Namabiro, and Rachael Mufuwa are the national players that will be featuring for Pearls in the Tooro 7s on Saturday and Sunday in the tourism City.
They join Rujumba7s Most Valuable player Emilly Lekuru who also is aiming at improving his performance and winning more for her club and individual recognition.
