The National Karting Championships draw to a close today, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Bugolobi, with Kevin Bebeeto aiming to seal his professional category title.

Bebeeto, who finished second in the fourth round of the championship in Lubowa, is targeting victory on the Bugolobi circuit to successfully defend his crown.

Standing in his way are Japanese racer Hiroshi Matsumoto, winner of the fourth round  and Rashid Omar, who finished third.

The trio are also determined to improve on their times from the third and fourth rounds earlier this month, adding extra competitiveness to today’s showdown and excitement for the fans.

In the previous round, Matsumoto clocked the fastest time at 8 minutes, 41.936 seconds. Bebeeto followed three seconds later with 8:46.261, while Omar finished just microseconds behind him.

Despite narrowly missing out on victory last time, Bebeeto remains upbeat. “Yes, last round I finished second but I am still top of the table. Tomorrow’s (today’s) performance is very important because it will determine whether I defend my title or not,” he told Vision Sport.

In the women’s category, nine-year-old Lucy Kakuru, who finished third behind Tasleem Garcha and Skye Bbaale,  is determined to outsmart her rivals. Kakuru believes consistency will be key, not only to secure the female category title but also to claim the youngest racer award.
