Association of the Uganda University Association celebrates 30 years

The Association of the Uganda University Association (AUUS) president Peninnah Kabenge has hailed AUUS member universities for supporting the growth of university sports in the country.
Kabenge made the remarks during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Makerere University.
“AUUS is 30 years old today and our history is pearled with people who have played a significant role in shaping our collective past and we appreciate them. Our major focus is transformation," Kabenge said.
“I commend the team I lead for working tirelessly towards the promotion of university sports."
She highlighted that the association has continued to be a big player on the continent through hosting and participating in mega-events.
“We have managed to participate, and host continental and world university events on top of winning and dominating most of the tournaments as Team Uganda,” she added
Uganda hosted the 2nd Kings of Africa University Rugby 7s in 2021 (Makerere), the 2nd Africa University Tennis slam 2021 (Makerere) the 2nd Eastern Africa Training for NUSF Executive workshop at Makerere.
They have also participated in the 2022 FISU cross country championship in Portugal (2022) where team Uganda bagged Gold (Ndejje), Bronze (Makerere) as well as team silver, the 2022 FISU mins sports championship in Belgium, the 10th FASU games in Kenya in June where Uganda finished in the second position overall.

Kabenge also said the collaboration with Vision Group is also part of the great milestone the association has managed to achieve in the last 30 years.
“The partnership we entered with Vision Group is yielding positive results and this is just the beginning, a lot is in the offing as we take this marriage to greater heights. Just watch the space,” Kabenge said
The AGM was presided over by AUUS vice president Vincent Kisenyi and General Secretary Patrick Sebuliba.
