Amus College Football Club, champions of the Bukedi Group, are set for a high-stakes showdown against Iganga United FC (formerly Busia FC), the newly crowned Nile Group winners, in the Eastern Region League final scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Iganga Saza Grounds.

Iganga United secured the Nile Group title with a game to spare, currently leading the table with 44 points—three clear of both Iganga Young FC and Eme United FC, who are tied at 41 points.

Amus College FC manager Calvin Opio emphasized the significance of the clash, noting that the winner will earn a spot in the playoffs for promotion to the FUFA Big League.

“Our team has performed exceptionally well this season, topping the Bukedi Group with 67 points. We’re ready for the final challenge,” said Opio.

He also noted that Iganga Young FC’s season concluded early due to Jinja North United’s disqualification from the league for failing to honor three matches. Meanwhile, Eme United FC still has one match remaining against Bundondo United, but even a win won’t be enough to overtake Iganga United due to the FUFA Head-to-Head rule—Iganga United defeated Eme United both home and away, giving them the edge in a tiebreaker.

The eagerly anticipated final between Amus College FC and Iganga United FC will decide the Eastern Region League Champion and determine who advances to the national promotional playoffs for a coveted spot in the FUFA Big League, Uganda’s second-tier football division.

With promotion hopes and regional pride on the line, the stage is set for an electrifying encounter between two of the region’s top-performing sides.

Kickoff is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Iganga Saza Grounds.

One team will rise. One step closer to the Big League. Amus College FC vs. Iganga United FC — the battle lines are drawn.
