The USSSA Teso zone boys’ football challenge that had on a couple of occasions failed to conclude was finally settled in Saturday’s ISF School football World Cup semifinal in Dalian, China.

Amus College will not only be carrying the Uganda flag in a prestigious final on Sunday but will also be keeping their heads high, having beaten their rivals for the first time in several failed attempts.

The two sides played to a 0-0 normal time draw and when they went for the deciding moment from the penalty mark, it was instead Bukedea that fell short of perfection.

Elvis Ssekajugo and Godfrey Ssekibengo missed their spot kicks, while Hamuza Ntagurira and Yusuf Ssebumpenje converted, as Amus’ John Otim, Hussein Sharif, Samuel Owaram, and Samuel Toto all converted theirs to send their side into celebrations and to the final.

Amus now will be vying for the title when they take on China 1 which also reached the final after eliminating compatriots China 2 in yet another thrilling 4-3 penalty shootout after the two sides played to a 0-0 normal time draw.

Neighbours Kenya Girls also reached the final after beating Brazil 3-1 in one of the girls' semifinals and by press time their opponent in the final was yet to be known.

Meanwhile, Sherlin Tukashaba and Ezra Muwanguzi scored but St Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK) fell 4-2 to Chinese Taipei in a classification game.

The competition that started on Sunday last week, will be coming to an end tomorrow Sunday with finals and prize giving.
