CMC Hoima rally in Hoima City
Brothers Ali Mohammed and Anees Mohammed will start the journey to fit into their fathers’ shoes on Saturday, June 10, by competing in the CMC Hoima rally.
Ali, navigated by his sibling Anees in a Subaru Impreza N14 wants to complete their first full rally in a better position.
The Hoima Rally is the third round of the National Rally Championship (NRC) and the two youngsters will be driving their father Dr. Ashraf Ahmed’s Subaru Impreza N14.
Dr. Ashraf is the 2008 national rally champion who retired to focus on medical practice at his Ali Medical Centre in Old Kampala, to pave the way for his sons to carry on the mantle.
Ali, 20, just finished senior 6 while his 19-year-old sibling Anees is a senior 6 student at Aga Khan High School, and both dream of becoming medical doctors.
Their mother and team manager Zaira Ashraf told Vision Sport that the boys’ target is to do well and try to bring back the car home safely.
“They have been driving the Autocross events, but we look forward to them finishing the rally and returning home safely,” Zaira said.
According to the clerk of the course Alfred Mutanda, the rally starts on Saturday with two stages in Kitoba Sub County and Mparo East division before heading for the super special stage at Kikwite Hill.
The two-day rally to cover 113km competitive distance has attracted 32 crews including two-time winner of the Kabalega rally Hassan Alwi and Shell V-Power fueled Ronald Sebuguzi, Jas Mangat, Duncan Mubiru, Ibrahim Lubega, and NRC table leader Yasin Nasser.
