Algeria head coach Madjid Bougherra has declared his team’s mission at CHAN 2024: nothing short of winning the title.

Speaking at a press conference in Kampala, where the tournament is co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, Bougherra emphasized that every match must be approached like a final.

The former Desert Foxes defender, who led Algeria to the CHAN 2023 final, believes African talent is the backbone of global football and urged local players to believe in their potential.

Reflecting on Algeria’s strong start including a commanding 3-0 win over Uganda, he praised CAF’s organisation and expressed pride in representing Africa on this stage.

“We know South Africa is a good team… We’re ready and will do everything possible to reach the next round,” Bougherra said ahead of their next Group C clash.

With depth, ambition, and tactical discipline, Algeria remains one of the tournament favorites. For Bougherra and his squad, the goal is clear: finish what they started last year and lift the CHAN trophy.
