Conrads Ahimbisibwe shot a 68 nett to win the second quarter I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series at Entebbe Club on Saturday.
Ahimbisibwe, who has a handicap of 50, beat over 100 other players to take home top prizes. He won a RwandAir ticket, a DStv hamper, and a one-night stay for two with breakfast at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa.
In the ladies’ category, Peace Hellen shot a 66 nett to win by one stroke over Sheilla Nduhukire. This was her first overall victory in a Katogo event which also won her the same prizes.

“I have won this golf tournament by the grace of God. I thank God that I am the winner. Yeah, and I'm so happy; I'm so excited,” Ahimbisibwe said.
“This is the first time I've been to this Katogo Golf Series. It was an amazing tournament, though very challenging. I've lost three balls, but all in all, you know, golf is about determination, focus, discipline, and getting to the game. “I loved it because you had to declare the clubs you were going to use, so it was also a challenge that you could not use any other club apart from the ones you declared from the tee. So, it was a little bit challenging, but I thank God I made it,” Ahimbisibwe stated.
For Peace Hellen, whose round produced six pars and two birdies, it was a moment to savour as she picked her first overall win from the quarterly event.

“I feel very happy about the win. This is my first overall win at this event, though I have been picking up other awards. The course was cool, and my game was fantastic. But it was all about my tee shots; my driver worked well today,” Hellen said.
“I ensure I play at least once; I practice and go to the range as well. But I need more time to perfect my game. But my cabin is already full of trophies, and I’m working hard to cut my handicap. I want to be playing at handicap 9 by the end of the year,” Hellen, who plays off 19, stated.
Speaking to the golfers after the event, which coincided with the live screening of the PSG versus Arsenal Champions League final, Sam Ntulume, the I&M Bank executive director, noted that the Katogo golf event continues to stand out because of the different stakeholders involved.

“Every round gives us something to look forward to. Whether you played well, struggled on a few holes, won a prize or simply came to be in the company of fellow golfers, everyone here lives with a memorable experience,” Ntulume stated. He reminded the golfers that I&M Bank MasterCard holders, particularly World Elite cardholders, enjoy exclusive golf privileges, including up to 30% off green fees or complimentary guest access at Lake Victoria Serena and select courses globally under the MasterCard Golf Program.
