The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance is inviting the country's developers, startups, universities and innovation hubs to submit working prototypes that could power future government services.

The initiative seeks to create a National Innovator Registry and hold a prototype showcase event, aiming to tap local talent for digitising key public services instead of relying on foreign solutions.

According to a notice from the ministry, target participants include Ugandan-owned tech companies, individual developers, research institutions and innovation groups.

The notice said that the submissions must feature functional prototypes or production systems addressing government priorities such as digital identity and civil registration, revenue and financial management, health information systems, education management, land administration, agriculture, labour services, justice, interoperability, citizen engagement and monitoring systems.

The key deadlines for submission deadline is June 1, 2026, and the prototype showcase on June 25 for those shortlisted only.

Applications must be submitted exclusively through the Government Digital Registry portal. Eligible applicants include Ugandan-owned entities; joint ventures with foreign firms are not allowed, and concept-only ideas without working prototypes will not qualify.
