ACCRA - Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama's account on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, has been compromised, the country's Cyber Security Authority (CSA) announced Tuesday in a statement.

"In the early hours of Monday, March 17, 2025, the Cyber Security Authority received a report concerning the compromise of the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama's X account. The account has been used to promote a cryptocurrency called 'Solana Africa,'" said the statement.

"We understand the public concern this incident has generated and are actively addressing the situation. The authority is working closely with X and other relevant stakeholders to address this incident and to prevent future occurrences," said the CSA, adding that it will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.

Mahama later said on X that his account, which has more than 2.4 million followers, has been restored.

"Thank you for your enquiries and offers to assist," the president said.
