Hanifah had enrolled in the surrogacy programme at Bethany Women and Family Hospital, where she eventually delivered healthy twins through Caesarean section (C-section). Each month of the pregnancy, she was given sh1m for upkeep, and at delivery she received a final payment of sh10m.

KAMPALA - When 30-year-old Hanifah (second name withheld) walks through the bustling streets of Kampala, a few people would imagine that she once carried a
