Ugandan rapper Zedmonk breaks 48-hour Guinness world record for longest rap

Zedmonk will now focus on hitting his own target of 80 hours, which will see him rapping all the way till Monday, May 6. Upon that, he will submit evidence to Guinness World Records, after which he will wait for official confirmation of his new world record.

At exactly 5:40pm on Sunday, May 5, Acram Kabuubi alias Zedmonk Ssabatontomi broke the Guinness World Record for longest rap, held by Japanese rapper Poney. 

While at Namaste Bar in Kololo, a city sububr, Zedmonk could not hold back his excitement after breaking the 48-hour record, with a host of fans celebrating with him. 

His team posted on his X page, upon the milestone, saying: "Uganda, 48 hours record of longest rap marathon is no more is no more time to set my new record. Thank you so much for the love, support and all the efforts!"

The rapper has, since Friday, May 3, received immense love and support from notable names in the music business, including Uganda Musicians Association president Cindy Sanyu, National Cultural Forum chairman Ragga Dee, Phina Mugerwa, rapper Feffe Bussi, all of whom have physically been at Namaste to cheer him on

Leading to his record breaker, Zedmonk had fellow rappers rooting for him via social media, among whom was celebrated rapper GNL Zamba, who said on his X page that: "Love, respect and admiration for Zedmonk from me and Baboon Forest. Let’s get it! #GuinnessWorldRecord. The boy has been rapping for 39hours and 22 minutes straight, and now 8 hours to go to break the world record. Best of luck, we are with you"

With the same energy, rapper St Nelly Sade said: "There’s a Ugandan trying to break the GWR longest rap marathon ever. If you are in Kampala, pass by Kololo, Namaste Restaurant, and show some love"

Zedmonk will now focus on hitting his own target of 80 hours, which will see him rapping all the way till Monday, May 6. Upon that, he will submit evidence to Guinness World Records, after which he will wait for official confirmation of his new world record. 

Japanese rapper Poney set the current world record (48 hours, 1 minute, 10 seconds), after rapping from April 22 to April 24, 2023, in Koto, Japan. This was Poney's third shot after failing for two straight attempts.
