Various stakeholders in the West Nile sub-region have appealed for peaceful campaigns as the campaigns for various positions gain momentum.

Speaking during a political dialogue organised by the West Nile Civil Society Network (WESCISNET) in Arua city on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, the stakeholders challenged political actors and their supporters to desist from violence.

The mainstream media representatives, government institutions, the religious and cultural bodies, and all political parties present pledged commitment to work harmoniously.

The police spokesperson for West Nile, Josephine Angucia, said the ongoing presidential and parliamentary elections so far have been peaceful.

Former Gender Minister and the current Chairperson of the NRM party in Arua city, Zoe Bakoko Bakoru, said violence starts with individuals and influences others, including voters, the media, and supporters.

The Station Manager, Arua One FM, Grace Lekuru, said the media faced numerous threats and intimidation from both political actors and security bodies, which makes their work a challenge.

Moses Akuma Odims, the Executive Director West Nile Development Agenda, said the government is mandated to undertake civic education, which is a long-term objective that needs to be done in a routine manner.

Fadhil Lemeriga, the prime minister of the Aringa Kingdom, challenged media outlets to provide equal space for political actors.
