A Ghanaian cultural leader visiting Uganda has urged Ugandans to strive for peace to achieve their goals.

King Charles Henry Woode from the Ekumfi Etuam Royal Family of central Ghana said peace is the key to life.

"Without peace you can never get anything," Woode said during prayers at Luwero's St Mark Anglican Cathedral on Christmas Day.

Woode urged the people of Uganda not to shun elements who want to use them to disrupt the prevailing peace in the country.

"Currently, there is peace in Uganda; therefore, don't allow anybody to use you to take the peace away," Woode said at the 10:00 am service, which was presided over by Luwero Anglican Bishop Wilson Kisekka.

In attendance, among others, were Katikamu North Member of Parliament Denis Sekabira, local politicians and hundreds of Christians who filled the cathedral to the brim.

Bishop Kisekka said the birth of Jesus Christ was God's special gift to mankind that should not be abandoned.

Opposition Nakaseke North MP Denis Sekabira asked Ugandan leaders and security personnel to reflect on their actions.

Sekabira, in contrast to the Ghanaian cultural leader, said there was no peace in Uganda, citing the harassment of opposition politicians.

"The people who are supposed to ensure people are peaceful are instead the ones who are disrupting their peace," Sekabira said.
