Uganda Cricket Association has unveiled Abhay Sharma as the new Cricket Cranes head coach.

The 54-year-old Sharma is of Indian origin and given a three-year contract replacing South Africa’s Laurence Mahatlane who has now found home in Rwanda after a short stint in Tanzania.

Vision Sports talked to Sharma after his unveiling ceremony and looks like a man who will run his activities by process despite coming in at a time when the Cricket Cranes is one month to their first-ever T20 Cricket World Cup to be held in the USA and West Indies.

“It is going to be a process, we can’t ask for the results now, in West Indies, the players are going to be playing against the top sides for the first time,” Sharma stated.

Sharma who is a class three coaching certificate holder from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was asked whether he has the pressure of taking over a Cricket World Cup-bound team and he answered.

“I have no pressure, to me this is not a job, this is a hobby, and have been in this situation when all eyes were on me before,” Sharma added.

The former wicketkeeper holds a 12-year Cricket playing experience with several coaching roles with different roles.

The recent one was with the Delhi Ranji Team after working with the Indian Women’s Cricket team.
