TORORO - The eastern districts of Tororo and Butaleja are buzzing with activities as final preparations are underway to host President Yoweri Museveni today, November 14, 2025.
The incumbent President, also the NRM flag-bearer for the 2026 General Election, is scheduled to hold campaign rallies in both Butaleja and Tororo districts as part of his bid to renew his mandate for a seventh term in office.
The President's tour of the Bukedi region to engage voters started on Wednesday, with visits to Pallisa and Butebo districts. He then proceeded to Budaka and Kibuku yesterday.
Today marks his third day in the region, starting with a rally at the Butaleja Booma grounds in the morning, followed by an afternoon rally at Tororo Children's Lions Park.
The Bukedi leg of the campaign will culminate in Busia on Saturday, before the President moves on to Busoga region.
Efforts are focused on ensuring a large turnout at both rallies this as road infrastructure is being prioritised to facilitate the President's swift movement between the two districts.
The Nabumali-Butaleja-Namutumba road and the Tororo-Nagongera-Busolwe road, which connect the two districts, are being actively worked on, with graders, compactors, and bulldozers deployed to ensure a smooth journey.
Mobilisation efforts are in full swing as vehicles belonging to NRM flag-bearers and independent candidates aligned with the ruling party are crisscrossing villages and towns, blasting NRM campaign songs and urging residents to attend the rallies.
Boda boda riders have also been mobilised to spread the word throughout the districts, while posters and yellow t-shirts are being distributed to maximise visibility and encourage attendance.
Local and parliamentary candidates are also strategically positioning their banners in areas where the President is expected to pass, hoping to garner attention on the campaign trail.
At the rally venues, mowers are ensuring the grounds are well-maintained, while tents and stages are being erected to prepare for the expected crowds.
Speaking on the intense preparations, NRM Electoral Commission chairperson Dr Tanga Odoi, who is heavily involved in organising the President's rallies, emphasised the importance of a successful visit.
"We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a memorable rally for President Museveni. We want to provide the best possible platform for him to connect with the people of Butaleja and Tororo," Tanga said.
He also revealed that the President is scheduled to commission the YY Ongango house at Kisoko Boys Primary School before his rally in Tororo.
"This visit is about more than just politics. It's about showcasing the progress we have made and sharing the President's message on wealth creation," he added.
Tanga concluded by urging the public to attend the rallies in large numbers, emphasising the opportunity to hear directly from the President about his vision for the future, despite any local grievances they may have.
"We encourage everyone to come and listen to the President's message. We understand there are issues, but this is a chance to hear directly from the leader of our nation," the NRM electoral commission boss urged.
