President Yoweri Museveni’s face had a look of pure delight on Thursday (October 16, 2025) as he highlighted the developed social and economic infrastructure of Terego district in the West Nile sub-region.

Museveni, who is currently on a campaign trail around West Nile, was wooing Terego’s electorate at the newly constructed Leju Stadium in Leju town council, which is about 100 metres away from the newly built district headquarters.

On electricity, Museveni, who is seeking his seventh consecutive presidential term in next year’s general election on the National Resistance Movement party ticket, said the crowd that visible progress is evident.

“For electricity, you can see for yourself,” he said, urging people to steer clear of the many power lines in the district.

“These days, when I come to the West Nile, my helicopter must land carefully; otherwise, it might hit the power lines, unlike before when I could land anywhere without issues, showing development,” he stated, to rapturous cheers.

Museveni also stated that he was glad to open the new Leju Stadium, saying it was a valuable addition to Terego’s social infrastructure.

He, however, noted that Terego has 73 primary schools and eight secondary schools across 42 parishes, but some still lack primary schools, indicating uneven distribution.

“We will correct this, ensuring every parish without a primary school gets one, and each sub-county without a secondary school also receives one,” he said.

The President also noted that Terego has seven sub-counties; one has a Health Centre IV, and five have Health Centre IIIs, with only two lacking any health centre. He promised that they will work to establish coverage for all, including a district hospital.

He will today campaign in the districts of Obongi and Moyo.
