RDC mini reshuffle: Kateregga moved to Jinja city, Mubiito to Kumi

The shakeup followed a decision by the NRM chairman for Masaka city, Rogers Bulegeya, to petition the Office of the President, asking it to cancel the transfer of Washaki, claiming that the opposition groups, mainly the National Unity Platform (NUP), had celebrated his departure.

The Office of the President has made another mini shakeup in the Resident City Commissioners (RCCs) and Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) following the cancellation of the transfer of Ahamada Washaki from Masaka city.

Veteran journalist Ahmed Kateregga Musaazi, who had been posted to Masaka city to take over from Washaki, has been taken to Jinja District.

He is taking over from John Bosco Mubiito, who has been in office for three months.

Mubiito has been moved to Kumi district, after the incumbent RDC, Hudu Hussein, opted to resign to contest for the Mbale city parliamentary seat on the National Resistance Movement ticket.

Hussein was moved from Masaka city before Washake and is now the NRM party flag bearer for Mbale city. James Kyomya, who has been in acting capacity, will remain in Kumi as the deputy RDC.

Meanwhile, Moses Ddumba, originally in Kiboga but recently swapped with Ssempala Kigozi for the Mpigi district RDC office, has been moved to Butambala to take over from Kateregga, pending a decision to fill the now vacant office.

The Secretary of the Office of the President, Haji Yunus Kakande, confirmed the new developments and stated that the affected officers are expected to move quickly and resume work.

Kateregga said following the changes, he moved fast and reported to office at Jinja and after a chat with his colleague Mubiito, they set next Tuesday (September 30) for him to take over the office.

“I am prepared to start work. My colleague asked me to give him time to prepare. So, on Tuesday, I will officially report for duty," said Kateregga.

The shakeup followed a decision by the NRM chairman for Masaka city, Rogers Bulegeya, to petition the Office of the President, asking it to cancel the transfer of Washaki, claiming that the opposition groups, mainly the National Unity Platform (NUP), had celebrated his departure.

Bulegeya said they were confident that Washaki would enable the party to win most of the seats occupied by NUP, including the city mayorship.

“We thank the Office of the President for listening to our appeal not to transfer the RDC, he is noncorrupt and a good mobiliser who had popularised the government programmes," he said.
