PALLISA - Members of Parliament, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders and residents in Pallisa district have faulted President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM National Executive Committee (NEC) for allegedly ignoring Pallisa in ministerial appointments

Their concerns were raised on Friday during belated celebrations to mark Liberation Day.

NRM this year marked 36 years since they came to power.

The celebrations, which were held at Amusiat Primary School, were attended by several MPs, district leaders and residents.

Pallisa NRM party chairperson George Oule Omoding said Pallisa is the mother district of Kibuku, Budaka and Butebo and that it is one of the districts President Museveni won at all the polling stations in the 2021 general election.

They alleged that Pallisa has been sidelined and excluded from the national cake.

What leaders say

Gogonyo County MP Derrick Orone said the appointment of a full Cabinet minister from Pallisa is the solution to issues affecting the residents.

Pallisa County MP Sam Otukol said the Government constructed a tarmac road to boost transport in the district, but still it is not enough since the majority of the people are still wallowing in poverty.

Majid Dhikusoka, the Resident District Commission of Pallisa, who was the chief guest during the Liberation Day celebrations, urged the locals to turn to improved agriculture that will generate money in a small space of land.

“The NRM Day is usually celebrated every January 26, but as a district, we could not manage to hold it due to financial challenges,” Dhikusoka said.
