In the same sitting, the 30-member district council elected Julius Emokol as speaker and Immaculate Asio as deputy speaker.

Otim later unveiled his executive team, which was unanimously approved by the council.

The cabinet includes Josephine Amoding as vice chairperson, Christine Apolot as secretary for finance and administration, Michael Obai as secretary for health and education, and Julius Wancha as secretary for works.

In his maiden address, Otim outlined his administration’s priorities, highlighting improvements in healthcare, education, and vocational and skills training.

He also pledged a zero-tolerance stance on corruption and promised inclusive leadership.

“This victory does not belong to me alone. It belongs to the mother who walks long distances in search of clean water, every youth searching for employment opportunities, every farmer striving for better markets, and every family praying for improved health services,” Otim said.

Acknowledging tensions that characterised the election period, Otim called on residents to put political differences behind them and work together for the district’s progress.

“Let us leave behind the politics of division and move forward with a spirit of cooperation and development,” he said.
