Ambassador Dr Olara Otunnu has praised the new leaders of Omoro district for what he termed as political maturity and urged them to ensure that the political leadership extends to transforming community life.
On Tuesday (May 19), while addressing the newly sworn-in leaders at the district headquarters, the distinguished diplomat and statesman stated that, "the Council must lead as a role model district in development, education, and the development of character, values, and culture."
Dr Otunnu, who was the chief guest at the function, also utilised the platform to share updates on grassroots progress, highlighting ongoing socioeconomic initiatives at Roco Paco that are actively empowering young people by securing vital access to education and alternative community development opportunities.

The chief guest's remarks anchored an eventful day that saw the official constitution of the 3rd August House, beginning with the swearing-in of the District Chairperson and individual council members. With the house legally settled, members proceeded to vote for internal leadership, resulting in the election of Lamony Francis from Acet Town Council as the new District Speaker, and Laker Franklyn, the female youth representative, as Deputy Speaker.
The executive cabinet selection
Following his inauguration, the new District Chairperson, Andrew Okot, quickly moved to structure his administration by nominating a team of executive committee members to steer public policy.
