NRM women hold overnight prayers for President Museveni

Speaker Among asked the women of Uganda to support President Museveni, to safeguard the gains that women and all Ugandans have attained during his leadership.

KAMPALA - To reaffirm their commitment to President Yoweri Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, the NRM women, led by national vice-chairperson Adrine Kobusingye, have held overnight prayers.

The function at Hotel La Vena, Seguku Katale, in Wakiso district on September 22, 2025, attracted over 1,000 women from various parts of the country.

The event was graced by Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among (Main Celebrant), her deputy, Thomas Tayebwa and other dignitaries.

The National Chairperson of NRM Women’s League, Adrine Kobusingye, promised to mobilise support for President Museveni up to the grassroots in reciprocation of his goodwill and commitment to women’s empowerment.

“With President Museveni at the helm, we are confident no one in this great nation will be left behind. As we move forward, let us protect the gains achieved and work tirelessly to build a Uganda where every woman, every child and every citizen can thrive. We are united in our determination to build a brighter future for our families and all Ugandans.”

The prayers were led by interdenominational religious leaders, including the Rev. Paska Ochungkoma from St Luke’s Chapel Mulago, Pastor Molly Tabaro from Entebbe Miracle Centre and Hajat Kenyangi Sofia Safina. Christian choral ensembles, including All Saints Lweaza Chapel Choir, animated the overnight prayers.

The function ran under the theme: NRM Women-Led Mobilisation and Campaign Under the Unifying Slogan, ‘All Women for Museveni.

Other highlights

Tayebwa lauded the charismatic leadership of Speaker Annet Anita Among and proposed that she be given the privilege of retaining the position unopposed in 2026.

He later asked the winners and losers in the just concluded party elections to bury their differences, reconcile and work together for the prosperity of the party and country.

Anita Among and Tayebwa donated sh120m and sh180m, respectively, to the proposed NRM women regional SACCOS.

Several NRM Primary election competitors reconciled and promised to work together for the good of the party and the country.
