The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Election Disputes Tribunal, in a panel headed by counsel Anthony Bazira in Kampala, has upheld the results declaring Lenia Kevin Charity as the winner of the NRM flag in Vurra County.
Lenia was announced as the winner for the Vurra County NRM flag bearer in elections held on July 17, 2025, for the directly elected Member of Parliament position, securing over 13,000 votes and defeating the incumbent Yovan Adriko along with seven other male contenders.
The petitioners, Victor Baku Adrale and Yovan Adriko, had challenged Lenia’s election on grounds of alleged election malpractice and the use of false declaration forms, among other claims.
In its ruling, the NRM Electoral Commission Tribunal dismissed the petition, upholding Lenia’s victory as the genuine winner of the 2025 NRM flag for Vurra County MP.
Speaking to Arua One, Lenia appealed to the people of Vurra to remain united and focus on the general elections.
In a related development, the NRM tribunal has overturned the results of the Terego West elections, where Moses Angundru was initially declared the winner of the NRM flag. The tribunal instead declared Eric Dramviku Sabiiti as the flag bearer.
The panel, chaired by counsel Bazira, nullified Angundru’s election due to vote tallying errors and irregularities.
Meanwhile, in Arua City Central Division, the delay in releasing the outcome of the tribunal verdict has caused anxiety among supporters of both the incumbent, Jackson Lee Buti Atima, who was declared the winner, and those of his challenger, Ronald Debo.
Speaking to Vision Group's Arua One FM, Debo appealed to the people of Arua Central Division to remain calm.
In Ayivu Division, the verdicts for the Woman MP and Ayivu East MP NRM flag bearer are yet to be declared.
The petitioned candidates and the petitioners will receive the results through their email systems.
Reports indicate that Phiona Onzima’s election as the flag bearer for the Ayivu West constituency has been upheld, as has Tom Aliti’s election for Maracha East, according to the NRM tribunal.
