NRM tribunal announces 46 winners of the July poll petitions

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries tribunal has announced names of various persons whose win had been confirmed as flag bearers for the 2026 national parliamentary race.

News about the rulings started spreading on Wednesday evening, with different aspirants posting the documents confirming winning the first hurdle.

Each of the parties in the filed cases received the verdict via email and WhatsApp.

The aspirants have since been informed that physical copies are available at the party secretariat upon request.

Those celebrating winning the primaries include: Ruth Mushabe for the Kiruhura District Woman MP seat and Aminah Mutesi Nalugoda for the Bugweri District Woman MP race.

Sources close to the tribunal confirmed that he hearings, which began on July 29, conclude August 4.  At the time of filing this report, 46 petitions had been cleared.

Enoch Barata, the NRM director for legal affairs, recently said that the tribunal simultaneously handled hearings for Local Government (LG) aspirants while issuing rulings for parliamentary cases.

A total of 178 Local Government election petitions have been filed since July 24, underscoring the scale of the tribunal’s work during this electoral cycle.
