ARUA – As the 2026 presidential campaigns gain momentum across various parts of Uganda, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) is plotting a massive mobilisation for its candidate, President Yoweri Museveni, ahead of his campaign in the West Nile region this week.
As the party aims for reelection, the West Nile region has been identified as a prime area for canvassing in the upcoming elections.
While meeting the regional NRM district executive committees and flag-bearers on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in Arua district, the party secretariat plotted strategies for massive mobilisation in the region.

Party secretary general Richard Todwong highlighted the need for massive mobilisation, challenging the leaders of the region to draw inspiration from the massive turnout in the Lango region.
Todwong said the secretariat has left the mobilisation in the hands of the party structure in each district, saying they will be accountable for any failures.
He also outlined some of the key 2026 NRM manifesto messages that the leaders should convey to the voters.
According to Todwong, all boxes have been ticked in terms of the manifesto needs of the citizens, urging the leaders to widely spread the gospel to the voters.
The president is expected to arrive in the West Nile region in Pakwach on Tuesday, October 7, in the afternoon, before taking an Independence Day anniversary break and returning on October 11, 2025, to tackle Nebbi and Zombo districts.
Museveni, who is the NRM flag-bearer for the 2026 General Election, will first have a rally in Oyam district in Lango region before proceeding to Pakwach in the West Nile region.
The Oyam event marks Museveni’s seventh rally in Lango, a region that has warmly embraced his campaign, while the Pakwach rally will mark his first expedition into the West Nile region as the election season gains momentum.
The rallies follow the postponement of earlier planned events in Kole, Lira district, and Lira City, with new dates still to be confirmed.
