KAMPALA - With just hours to the polling day, leaders of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) combined pressure groups are confident that President Yoweri Museveni will win the presidential elections with a commanding margin of over 70%.

The polls are scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Speaking to the media at Bat Valley Primary School in Kampala city, Jane Mwangu, the vice-chairperson of the NRM combined pressure groups, said they have made door-to-door mobilisation across the country and are thus confident of victory.

“We are very confident that President Museveni is going to win these elections with a big margin because we have done a lot of mobilisation and the feedback has been positive,” Mwangu said.

Unlike the Opposition, Mwangu said they started door-to-door mobilisation immediately after the 2021 General Election.

“We have sensitised the voters and encouraged them to embrace government programmes like the Parish Development Model (PDM), youth livelihood and Emyooga. Many of them have benefited, and this is why we are sure of victory because NRM works for the well-being of every citizen,” Mwangu said.

Moreen Naigaga, a member of the Museveni Kuntikko pressure group, said, despite having been sidelined by the NRM party secretariat, they have done their best to ensure that President Museveni wins the elections.

“I am sure that President Museveni will win the elections because we have done our best as pressure groups,” Naigaga said.

Monica Adengi said they expect Museveni to win the elections by 70%. “We started mobilising for support shortly after the elections, and we expect him to win the elections by over 70%,” Adengi said.

Museveni won the previous elections, scoring 58.38% of the valid votes, while his main challenger, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, got 35.08% of the valid votes.

The mobilisers urged all NRM supporters to turn out in big numbers on Thursday and vote for President Museveni. The pressure groups hope to meet the President after the elections.
