Candidates of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) vying for various positions in Kitgum District are conducting joint campaigns ahead of the party’s primary elections, due to lack of funding from party headquarters.

The funding gap has hampered planned joint campaigns in many parts of the country, with most candidates resorting to individual efforts to win over voters.

However, in Kitgum district, aspirants have pooled their resources to carry out joint campaigns, according to the District Registrar, Cyrus Odongkene.

Similarly, Gulu district is experiencing a comparable situation.

George Ebola, the NRM Registrar for Gulu District, said candidates there are also conducting joint campaigns, although without the aid of a public address system.

In Gulu City, however, candidates are currently engaged in individual campaigns.

David Nyeko, the NRM registrar for Gulu city, said they planned to hold a dialogue, during which they would explore adopting strategies from either Kitgum or Gulu district.

The joint campaigns, which began on July 1, 2025, are set to run until July 16, 2025, the eve of the NRM primary elections.
