WAKISO - National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretary general Richard Todwong has commissioned party mobilisers in Nansana municipality, Wakiso district.
The commissioned party mobilisers have spent three days under training in Nansana on the party ideology.
While commissioning the mobilisers at Green Kard Hotel in Nansana under their brand name “Museveni Ku Ntikko” on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Todwong said just like Museveni ku Ntikko's ambitions, this is the same way the NRM party started under the leadership of President Yoweri Museveni.
“The NRM party started from volunteer mobilisers. President Museveni was a student in 1960 and started mobilising his fellow students to go to Ankole and change their way of living. Museveni had never thought of being a president, but he started by changing the life of his people in Ankole,” Todwong said.
Todwong noted that the NRM party started when President Museveni and his colleagues started mobilising against former President Idi Amin and bad things.

Live better in the community
“Your being in NRM is not about President Museveni's election but it is about total transformation of your way of thinking of the people in the party. As an NRM cadre, you should resist any bad thing around the areas you live in. You should resist poverty, laziness, drunkenness because when you resist them, it helps people living around you live better,” Todwong said.
Todwong noted that when you support the people around you, you will automatically be a supporter of President Museveni and the NRM.
“A leader should think in a way that will take a person from one step to another. A leader’s way of thinking should be greater than that of other people.
As a leader, you should be able to see hope and opportunities where people don’t see. As a leader, guide them, give them hope and comfort them,” Todwong said, adding that leaders are social doctors.
Jane Mwango, the chairperson of Museveni Ku Ntikko, said they established their pressure group because of the intimidation they faced whenever NRM had an event within the central region.
“We are here to mobilise votes for President Museveni and our strategy is to use the door-to-door because we know that NRM has votes within the central region,” Mwango said.
She claimed that in the districts of Kampala and Wakiso, the pressure group has 6,400 co-ordinators while Busoga has 380 co-ordinators.
“Our aim is having President Museveni alone as the leader but he must have his staff starting from the LC1s to the national level who are also NRM members,” Mwango said adding that they came up with this pressure group because they want to eliminate a number of people who claim to be NRM yet they are self-seekers.
