The once sleepy towns of two neighbouring districts of Ngora and Kumi came alive on Tuesday (November 4, 2026) as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party supporters welcomed their presidential candidate and incumbent, Yoweri Museveni.
They danced, jumped for joy, and chanted ‘Museveni Oyee, NRM Oyee’ in a massive show of support for their presidential candidate, who held his first campaign rally of the day at BKC Demo Primary School in Ngora town council, Ngora.
Museveni’s second and final campaign event of the day was held at Wiggins Secondary School playground in Kumi Municipality, Kumi.

Celebrated local and national musicians, including Bebe Cool and Anitah Da Diva, a dancehall artiste who had faded into oblivion, performed their popular songs at the two rallies.
Some thrilled NRM supporters told the New Vision Online that the sight of government officials such as the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among and privatisation state minister Evelyn Anite dancing paka chini and showing other dance strokes will stick in their minds.
Among, who is also the Bukedea Woman MP, joined Da Diva on stage as she performed her Zero Distance song, which she is famed for, sending the mammoth crowd at the Ngora rally into a frenzy.

At the Kumi rally, despite the blistering sunshine, thousands of NRM supporters thronged the streets of Kumi Municipality to welcome Museveni, who is seeking his seventh consecutive presidential term.
The town was transformed into a sea of yellow as supporters donning NRM T-shirts and caps lined the freshly tarmacked roads, waving flags and singing party songs.
The gleaming solar lights that now illuminate Kumi’s streets stood as a symbol of the development the residents attribute to the incumbent president’s leadership.

“Kumi that was once more of a village is now more of a city, and that is courtesy of President Museveni who considered our town for the development we are enjoying now,” said Charles Vincent Okiiso of Kanyum County.
Another jubilant supporter from Atutur sub-county, Albert Odeke, said: “I celebrate President Museveni for introducing the Parish Development Model programme that has changed my family’s life.”
Kumi, shimmering in yellow, once again reaffirmed its loyalty to the NRM cause.

Museveni is campaigning for a seventh term under the theme: Protecting the Gains, Making a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.
The theme focuses on safeguarding achievements in the last 39 years, such as peace and development, while aiming to propel Uganda to a high middle-income status.
