Nandala to Kwania voters: Trust FDC for one term to rebuild Uganda

"Even after restoring the term limits, don't vote us back to power after the five years, in case we have not performed. We can't fix this economy with that big administration, that's why the number of MPs and ministers will have to be reduced," he told supporters.

Ahead of the January 2026 general elections, all eight presidential aspirants are traversing the country making promises and explaining their manifestos to potential voters.

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, has asked voters and supporters in Kwania district to trust his party with just one term in office, from 2026 to 2031.

The rally in Kwania stood out as the most energetic and well-attended on Mafabi’s campaign trail so far, with large, jubilant crowds turning up in numbers to welcome him and show their support.

Mafabi, who arrived in Kwania district at about 5pm after holding several rallies throughout Lira district earlier in the day (October 12), told voters that his government would restore term limits to two, and reduce parliamentary representation to two MPs per district.

"Even after restoring the term limits, don't vote us back to power after the five years, in case we have not performed. We can't fix this economy with that big administration, that's why the number of MPs and ministers will have to be reduced," he told supporters.

Kwania district, which is part of the Lango sub-region, raised the issue of rising child marriages, which are being fuelled by poverty. The concern was brought forward by Kate Etit, the aspiring Kwania district woman MP on the FDC ticket.

Nandala responded that his government would ensure people have money in their pockets, adding that such challenges would become history in Uganda.

As he has done in other districts, the FDC presidential hopeful highlighted how Uganda allegedly loses sh10 trillion annually, saying this would be his main source of funding to sustain programmes that he claims have been neglected by the current president, Yoweri Museveni.

In Kwania district, Nandala held three major rallies — at Abwong Primary School at about 5:40pm, Tekubel Market at around 6:30pm, and at Apai Trading Centre, Amoro Parish, at about 8pm.

On Monday, October 13, the FDC campaign team is scheduled to hold rallies in Kween and Bukwo districts.
