Husband and wife at home, yet from different political parties, Isaac Isanga Musumba of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Proscovia Salaamu Musumba of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) have once again spiced up the political scene in Kamuli.

At the just concluded Members of Parliament nominations, Salaamu Musumba was nominated to contest for Bugabula South, the post she held 20 years ago, while her husband, the former state minister for housing and urban development, bounced back for the Buzaaya county, after losing the constituency he monopolised for 25 years to Martin Muzaale.

Salaamu Musumba, who’s referred to as “iron lady” by most in Kamuli, arrived for nominations on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Kamuli Youth Centre with a huge number of supporters who danced amid frenzy drumming and ululations as she proceeded to the Electoral Commission desk to get nominated.

Speaking to her supporters after nomination, she said she was banking because, since her exit, the August House had lost its natural aura due to missing vibrant brains like hers.

She noted that today’s legislators lack the prowess to deliberate pertinent issues, save for minting money through allowance and bribes.

On Isaac Musumba’s side, he said he was coming back to redeem Buzaaya from the bandits who manipulate the masses with violence, vote rigging and underdevelopment.

“Since the seat went to bandits in 2021, Buzaaya has hardly gotten any development, save for people wallowing in political battle and hatred,” Musumba said.
