Museveni to hold two rallies in Amolatar, Dokolo

The exact venues for the gatherings are yet to be communicated, but organisers say preparations are in high gear to receive the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag-bearer, who is also party chairperson.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is today, October 1, 2025, expected to pitch camp in the Lango region, where he will hold two major rallies—one in Amolatar district and another in Dokolo district—as part of his ongoing campaign to retain his seat during the 2026 General Election.

The exact venues for the gatherings are yet to be communicated, but organisers say preparations are in high gear to receive the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag-bearer, who is also party chairperson.

The rallies come against the backdrop of the NRM 2026-2031 election campaign grand rally launch by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, yesterday at Bukalasa playgrounds, Luwero district.

In Luwero, often referred to as the “cradle of the revolution,” residents voiced both gratitude for the NRM’s contribution to peace and stability and concerns about persistent land wrangles.

In Bombo and Bamunanika, locals praised the NRM for maintaining security and promoting opportunities for ordinary Ugandans.

As the campaign trail shifts northwards, political analysts note that Museveni’s visit to Amolatar and Dokolo is strategic.

Lango has historically been a politically competitive ground, with the NRM facing stiff contest from Opposition parties.

By engaging the communities here early in the campaign, Museveni is expected to emphasise his government’s achievements in peace consolidation, infrastructural development and socio-economic programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM).

The rallies also present an opportunity for Museveni to directly address local priorities in Lango, ranging from agricultural support, youth employment and market access, to calls for improved health and education services.

In past rallies, he has urged citizens to tap into government programmes designed to increase household incomes and combat poverty.

NRM secretary general Richard Todwong recently underscored the importance of this campaign phase, noting that the party’s strategy is to “protect the gains achieved over the years” while rallying support to consolidate stability and economic growth.

According to the NRM party secretariat, mobilisers in Lango have also been working to drum up enthusiasm, promising massive turnouts in Amolatar and Dokolo.

The President’s twin rallies in the region mark another step in what his supporters describe as a well-calibrated campaign, one designed to blend reflection on the NRM’s 39 years in power with fresh promises to deepen economic transformation.
