Muntu cautions Gen. Rwashande on rigging claims

"I don't know how true that is. But if Gen. Rwashande declared so, if there are any of his friends, tell him to stay away from my votes," Muntu, who is also a former army commander, stated.

Maj. Gen. (rtd) Gregory Mugisha Muntu has warned active and retired security operatives against rigging his votes.

The Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential flag-bearer in the 2026 General Election made the warning on October 14, 2025, during a campaign stop in Ntuusi town, Lwemiyaga county in Sembabule district.

Much as he was still verifying its authenticity, Muntu said that he had chanced on a video on social media in which Rwashande appeared to impute that they would rig Opposition presidential candidates.

"I don't know how true that is. But if Gen. Rwashande declared so, if there are any of his friends, tell him to stay away from my votes," Muntu, who is also a former army commander, stated.

Adding that before Rwashande crosses that line, he needs to engage in soup searching.

"He should try to call Hon. Chris Rwakasisi, spare time, maybe 30 minutes and sit with him over tea. Hon. Chris Rwakasisi is now Born Again, I know he speaks the truth," Muntu said.

"He might offer him some advice, which, if he listens to, he will change his ways, and if he doesn't, he shall get a problem before he leaves this world," he added.

Fast forward, he expressed regret that victims of the Uganda People's Congress (UPC) government, some of whom serve in the current Government, are repeating similar mistakes.

While such would be avoided through self-correction, unfortunately, he said the ruling party abhors honest and sober leaders.

Citing the example of Lwemiyaga County MP Theodore Ssekikubo.

It should be noted that Ssekikubo, who has represented Lwemiyaga County for 25 years, recently lost the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag to Rwanshande in a heated primary election.

Rwanshande garnered 16,358 votes against Ssekikubo's 8,702 votes.

As the adage goes, where two elephants fight, the grass suffers, Lwemiyaga was no exception.
